EECA Business

The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) encourages, supports and promotes energy efficiency, energy conservation and the use of renewable energy.

We provide people in business and at home with the information, tools and support they need to make changes in their energy use. We work with many partners to do this – with the private sector, community groups and industry associations, such as Sustainable Business Network.

Specifically we enable businesses to increase their domestic and international competitiveness by adopting energy efficiency and renewable energy practices.

Good energy management has many benefits for businesses, including lower costs, increased productivity, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and a positive effect on the brand. For more information go to www.eecabusiness.govt.nz

Why EECA is involved with the SBN Awards

Collectively New Zealand’s small to medium businesses use more than 14% of our total energy use each year. This represents a total energy bill of about $2billion. EECA estimates that SMEs could potentially save 10 – 15% of their energy bill through energy saving initiatives, such as low cost or no cost measures. These savings would then go directly to the bottom line and improve productivity.

We are proud to support the Sustainable Business Network Awards. Our involvement with these awards recognises the opportunity the SBN has to influence small New Zealand businesses use of energy through its programmes and awards.
