Corporate Express
Corporate Express’ Sustainability Journey
Corporate Express began its move into sustainable practices over a decade ago. The launch of our environmentally preferable products in 1998 saw our commitment extend to developing a sustainable supply chain that supports our customers’ focus. Over the years we have made remarkable achievements in four key areas of our corporate social responsibility (CSR): workplace, marketplace, environment and community.
Today we reach another key milestone as we release our first Sustainability Report. The report summarises Corporate Express’ CSR programs and initiatives for 2008 and introduces targets in each of the key areas for 2009.
Some highlights include:
• Key sustainability impacts of our operations
• New Corporate Social responsibility governance
• The launch of three new initiatives in 2008: Learning & Development Team Women in Leadership Council
• Disclosure of metrics including workforce makeup and carbon footprint
• Details on the Ecological Sustainable Design features of the new corporate head office, data centre and regional distribution centre
• Highlights of employee community
We have used the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines, the most widely used sustainability reporting framework in the world for economic, social and environmental reporting. This report brings together all our sustainability activities in one easy-to-digest document and sets a benchmark for future reporting.
Our CSR programs allow us to demonstrate leadership, responsibility and accountability. By investing in our CSR programs we have invested in the future of our business, our communities and our people.
The sustainability of our business can be directly attributed to the skills and attitudes of our people. Without the continued efforts of our staff and the support of customers, we would not be able to continue to implement the initiatives such as we have to date.
Our report is available from www.ce.com.au.
