Daisies Early Education & Care Centre
BACKGROUND
Daisies Early Education & Care Centre is a full-time early childhood education centre in Johnsonville, Wellington. Daisies is licensed for 30 children and is notable for its high teacher/child ratios and a highly-qualified and experienced teaching team. The owners, Dr Anne Meade and her daughter Linda Meade, have placed strong emphasis on high quality teaching which is reflected in the teaching team, the environment and the learning programmes.
HOW SUSTAINABILITY IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF DAISIES EARLY EDUCATION & CARE CENTRE
Daisies has a holistic approach to providing early education and care for its children. It has made many positive steps towards integrating sustainability principles into its operations; from building its premises right through to the way in which it seeks to educate children and their families on environmental principles and our unique interconnectedness to the world around us.
Daisies recognises that Maori are the first people of Aotearoa New Zealand. Te reo and tikanga Maori are woven into the daily practice of the business. Daisies has developed a strong relationship with local Maori who blessed the centre when it opened and continue to attend important ceremonies.
